Why did I top…..

A cherry tree? My uncle showed me this trick when I was a kid! You top the tree and then for about 5 or 6 seasons after that you prune anything going up. But leave everything going sideways!

This old cherry tree has no real value other than the seasonal bloom! Which will go excellently with the Japanese maples I’ve been semi dwarfing in the front….. fyi, these have always been sour cherries! Cool tree though…..

So over the next few seasons we shall see how it rolls!

Have some clean up to do on the longer stubs but over all I’m impress that I didn’t take down the fence! Not did I take out any of the neighbors cars…..

Oh and fyi, that electric pole chainsaw worked very well! Allowed easy access to a lot more cuts! While on the thicker limbs they would break and fall while still attached. Which gave me a sort of hinge effect and everything would fall close….

By now means am I a pro but I did it…..
