Member how I told yall years ago. The way I always do repetitive things like pre trips etc. I find a routine and I stick with that exact routine every time! and if for some reason I have to alter that routine enroute. I start from the beginning!
Well I do the same with key returns!
It’s almost ocd’ish the way I do this!
I never keep keys in my pockets! They are tossed in a cup holder until needed. Then after use, I throw them into another cup holder signifying used!
At the end of the day I put the truck key and customer keys in my chest pocket! Right next to my fav pen! Wich is important!
So when I head back into the dc. I dump my shit at a table, grab my paperwork throw a paper clip on it. Toss it on the stack. Then feel my chest pocket for keys and proceed to put them back! Including truck keys!
Then proceed to walk to my shit. Throw my fav pen in my paper keeper and toss it on top of everyone else’s paper keepers!
Grab my shit, head for the door! When I get to the hot rod. I usually take off my vest. In doing so I pat down all my pockets again!
Thus a last check for keys and my headlamp!
That is exactly how I do end of day! Everyday!
