I had to throw chains twice yesterday! Other than the fact the twat that loaded the chain rack attached individual links to the actual rack. Wich left me no option but to heave 3 rails at once off that rack.
It went well! The first time I got lucky and a co worker helped me throw a couple rails! Whom by the way gained my respect by actually knowing how to put on chains right! no bungies, nadda
The second time around took about 40 minutes to put on! 10 minutes to take off!
Is it me or is there always that one rail that refuses to go on tight? Drive me fucking insane! That will do it!
Considering I haven’t thrown chains in a while. It went better than expected! Normally just throwing a set of singles and alternating drag chains takes about 20 minutes! the first few times of the year always take longer…. A lot like the chains, I’m rusty!
FYI, I alternate my drag chains! Something I learned driving the winds of Wyoming and the Midwest. I found I have much better slide control if I have a chain on each axle! Aka, a rail on the left front with one on the right rear trailer axles!
Just something I’ve learned over these years…..
